“ Did you search the whole house?” Lt. Franco asked.

“ Yes I believe we have enough evidence to convict him. Finally,” Marco replied with a smile.

“ Good, let’s clean things up and get the hell out of here,” The lieutenant ordered. Within a short amount of time the group of policemen had finished their work and had left.

Oswaldo returned home to find his wife preparing dinner. He removed his police uniform and threw it on the chair next to the bed. “ Remember to hang up your uniform! I just had it cleaned!” His wife shouted from the kitchen. With a groan, Oswaldo followed his wife’s orders and proceeded to hang up his uniform. After he did, he remembered to check his pockets again. He pulled out a beautiful golden fork which he took from the crime scene. Shuddering at the thought of the other men finding out what he had done, he looked around the room for a place to hide the shiny utensil he had stolen.

“ What in god’s name is that?” His wife exclaimed as she walked in the room. Her eyes were immediately fixated on the fork that her husband was holding in his hand.

“ Well, it is.” Oswaldo stuttered and struggled to find the words to explain how he had the fork in his possession.

“ You didn’t take it from a crime scene did you?” His wife asked as Oswaldo’s eyes grew to the size of garbage can lids.

“ Well, actually I did. How did you know?” He asked.

“ This isn’t the first time you have done something like this, isn’t it?” She said.

“ No it isn’t,” He responded with a guilty look on his face. He went over to the nightstand and placed the fork inside the drawer. “ I am leaving it here. I am certainly not going to bring it back now,” her husband said as he put the fork away. She shot him a slightly disapproving glare and returned to the kitchen.

“ Come on! Dinner is ready!” his wife beckoned him to follow her.

The next day when he returned to work, he was immediately surprised at the situation that he entered. The wife of the Mob boss’s house that they raided the day before was visibly upset and complaining to the other officers.

“ Someone, one of you pigs! One of you pigs must have stolen it from our house when you were searching through our things!” The woman screamed with a wild look in her eye that made everyone cringe.

“ Now ma’am, please refrain from referring to us in such a derogatory tone, We are officers of the law and we deserve a certain amount of respect!” The lieutenant said in a forceful tone.

“ Why should I do this! When you and your men didn’t show our family the decency to not steal things from our home!” She shouted, her hair flailing wildly behind her.

The lieutenant turned and looked over at Oswaldo. “ Officer Valente, did you happen to see a golden fork yesterday during the raid?”

“ No! A golden fork? I would have remembered something like that!” He responded.

“ See miss? We are all professionals here and none of us would ever do anything like you are saying. Maybe you misplaced the fork? Maybe it is somewhere else in the house?” He asked.

“ No! It is always in the same place. Do any of you have any idea how important that fork is?” She asked as she looked around into the eyes of all the policemen in the room. Everyone just shrugged their shoulders.

“ This fork was used at the last supper! You know the one with Jesus? It was used by Judas! Now it is cursed! Anyone who eats with this fork will lose all their teeth! So I guess that if one of you pigs have lied to me and have stolen this fork, we will soon know!” She shouted as she was ushered into one of the interrogation rooms.

“ What a crazy witch she is!” The lieutenant said with a chuckle. Oswaldo laughed along with the group but deep down inside he was very nervous.

The end of his shift arrived and he went home as quickly as possible. As soon as he entered the kitchen, he heard some loud hacking coughs amongst cries of pain. A knot formed in his stomach as he had a sick feeling as to what was happening.  As he entered the kitchen he saw his wife hovering over the sink. She was spitting out blood. The weird haunting clinking sounds filled the air as she continued to spit out all of her teeth. She turned to her husband with a toothless scowl. In one hand she was holding the golden fork. Oswaldo’s eyes rolled into the back of his head as he fainted on to the kitchen floor.
